Oilfield service provider Simmons Edeco has announced the appointment of Niels Versfeld as chief executive officer, effective October 1st.
Versfeld brings management experience in the oil and gas industry, with particular emphasis upon building and leading growth initiatives.

The company remains firmly dedicated to helping customers optimize production, while exploring new efficiencies and opportunities to provide to the global oil and gas industry,” Simmons Edeco Board of Directors member Jay Simmons, was quoted as saying in a press release.
“With his impressive track record in growing North American oilfield services businesses and ‘people first’ mentality, we’re confident that Niels Versfeld will build upon our traditions of exploration and service excellence, and lead the company to help us create value through growth and operational discipline,” Simmons was quoted as saying.
With 14 years of experience in the energy industry, Versfeld dedicated ten years to managing sales, operations and business development for energy services companies.
Before joining Simmons Edeco, he served as general manager of Gibson Energy’s Environmental Services Division, during which time he was instrumental in expanding the company’s businesses in Canada and the United States.
Previously, he worked as chief operations officer for Palko Environmental, until it was acquired by Gibson Energy in 2011. Throughout the course of his career, Versfeld has worked in a variety of roles, initially as an environmental consultant serving the energy sector, and as an Environment & Regulatory Manager for CCS Corporation.
A native of Calgary in Alberta, Canada, Versfeld holds an Honours B Sc in Environmental Science and an MBA in Global Energy Management & Sustainable Development from University of Calgary. He is also a Canadian Certified Environmental Professional.
