Two Qatari offshore platforms completed

The consignment included a utility platform that weighed 3,500 tonnes and a living quarter platform that weighed 4,000 tonnes

Heavy-lift engineering firm ALE has transported two offshore platforms from China to Qatar, and completed installation procedures for the oil and gas components in Qatari waters.

The consignment included a utility platform that weighed 3,500 tonnes and a living quarter platform that weighed 4,000 tonnes. Both units were collected from a fabrication facility in Tianjin, China, and shipped to Qatar by ALE.

“By coordinating between our specialist offshore and local engineering teams across China, Qatar and the UK, we were able to provide the complete turnkey package – from tide and load monitoring to skidding and offshore installation – safely and on schedule,” said David Le Masurier, project engineer at ALE.

Upon arrival in Qatar, the team from ALE completed floatover, ballasting and mooring to install the giant platforms at one of Qatar’s major oil and gas fields.

ALE provides heavy-lift services worldwide with a focus on the oil and gas, civil, nuclear, offshore, marine, minerals and mining sectors. The firm is headquartered in Staffordshire, UK, and operates more than 30 offices worldwide.
