Saudi Aramco’s Mohammed AlMedallah has been named the ‘Young Oil and Gas Professional of the Year’ for 2016.
The judging panel said he has already left a mark on the industry and has leadership skills which have helped to optimise operations and his business acumen has led to millions of dollars’ worth of savings for his company.
AlMedallah, an offshore specialist engineer and flow assurance unit supervisor at Aramco was also praised for his “variety of skills and participation in multiple aspects of the upstream process” and the panel also pointed out he currently has a patent under filing.
The 29-year-old, who has the role of offshore specialist engineer and flow assurance unit supervisor, said: “I am really excited right now, but I do not feel this is the end of my success. As a young person I feel it is important that I deliver as much energy as possible to the workplace and offer innovative ideas and new ways of thinking about the challenges we face.
“Saudi Aramco has equipped me with the right tools to continue my personal development so I can be ready to face what is put to me.
“I live in Dhahran which is the home city of Saudi Aramco so I have always been aware of oil and gas projects. They really caught my attention as from a young age I got to know people working in the field and from that time on I knew I wanted to work as a petrochemical engineer.”
