A fire which broke out on Tuesday night at a site where an oil well is being dug in northern Kuwait has been brought under control, state news agency KUNA reported early on Thursday.
The agency quoted Saad al-Azemi, spokesman for the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC), as saying that specialised teams were taking precautionary measures to keep the fire from breaking out again.
These included cooling the platform and leaving a small flame to burn any gas in the area.
Azemi said on Wednesday the spill had not affected KOC’s operations and production processes in Kuwait, a major oil producer and OPEC member.
