Oman’s Special Economic Zone Authority (SEZAD) in Duqm has been expanded in order to accommodate oil storage activities.
SEZAD’s size has risen from 1,745km2 to 2,000km2 to boost capacity within the Ras Markaz area, which will setting up of warehouses for storage and export of crude oil.
In October last year, Oman Tank Terminal Company finalised the initial designs for the crude oil storage terminal at Ras Markaz area
This will be built in phases, the first of which is expected to be completed and operational around the same time as the launch of the Duqm refinery.
SEZED recently floated a tender to develop a fishing port in Duqm, which will be the largest of its kind in the Sultanate with an area of 600ha.
Oman has already developed Duqm Port in the area.Â
