Saudi Aramco has awarded a contract to a consortium of two contractors to build 791 housing units for employees working in the Dhahran area.
A report in the energy giant’s internal paper, The Arabian Sun, revealed: “The landmark South Dhahran Home Ownership Programme (SDHOP) will construct the units in its second contract of Phase I and as part of a civil construction project that will result in a fully serviced community for employees.”
The consortium that has won the deal consists of Azmeel Contracting Company and a branch of Sinohydro Corporation Company
The development will be sited just 8km southwest of Saudi Aramco’s Dhahran headquarters.
In August and early December, SDHOP awarded 955 housing unit and schools packages (12 buildings) to the same two companies.
“It has taken a huge effort to get this far. I would like to thank everyone involved for making it all happen,” said Motaz A. Al-Mashouk, then-acting executive director of Community Infrastructure and Public Projects.
