Iran says gas exports to Turkey will resume in a few days after a pipeline attack on Monday halted operations.

Yadollah Baybordi, director of Gas Transmission Operation District 8 at the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), was quoted on Tuesday by Iranian media as saying that the pipeline is currently under repair and will come back online over the next few days.

“Gas Transmission Operation District 8 is ready to cooperate [with Turkish technicians] to solve the problem that has affected Iran-Turkey gas exports pipeline,” Baybordi said..

The blast, which took place in the eastern Turkish province of Agri on Monday night, has been treated as a sabotage attack and although no one has claimed responsibility yet, the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) is considered to be behind it.

PKK is also suspected of the Monday killing of one paramilitary police commander in a predominantly Kurdish part of eastern Turkey,

The group has claimed responsibility for the killing of two Turkish soldiers in a car bombing in Diyarbakir province on Sunday, and the shooting of two policemen in their beds in the southeast two weeks ago.
