Bahri, Hyundai sign deal for 5 new oil tankers

Carriers to be delivered in 2017/2018

The National Shipping Company of Saudi Arabia (Bahri) signed a contract with Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries on Tuesday for the construction of five new VLCCs.

This is further to five other carriers, the contracts for which were signed on June 24th, bringing the total number of carriers currently under construction to ten. 

“These VLCCs are designed to the latest international technical specifications and are fitted with environmentally friendly specifications and high efficiency in fuel consumption, with a capacity of 300,000 DWT/ per carrier,” Bahri said in a statement.

The first five carriers will be delivered during 2017 and the other five — in 2017 and 2018.
