The China Petroleum Engineering and Construction Corp (CPECC) has been awarded a $330mn deal to develop the Abu Dhabi Mender oil field, China’s official news agency Xinhua has reported.
The Chinese contractor will build oil gathering stations, pipelines, power transmission lines and sewage systems at the field.
Mender is part of the onshore South East Full Field Development project and will produce 20,000 barrels per day (bpd) when fully developed.
Production from the field, which is managed by ADCO, the onshore subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, will add to Abu Dhabi’s current 1.6mn bpd output and help the emirate move closer to achieving its 1.8 bpd target by 2017.
CPECC’s another major contract in the emirate was a $3.29bn deal to build the famous Abu Dhabi crude oil pipeline known as ADCOP. The project was awarded in 2008.
