Saudi Aramco is set to launch a new training programme that will focus on unconventional resources.
Its Upstream Professional Development Centre (UPDC) will roll out the three year course for upstream engineers and scientists from the second quarter of 2015, according to the Arabian Sun.
The UR initiative is one of the primary elements of the Saudi Aramco Accelerated Transformation Program and is a critical component to address the Kingdom’s future energy demand, the report said.
Khalid A. Al-Falih, Saudi Aramco president and CEO, in a keynote speech at the 8th Global Competitiveness Forum (GCF) on January 27 in Riyadh said, “Saudi Arabia will be the next frontier after the U.S. where shale and unconventional resources will make a contribution to our energy mix, especially gas.”
The programme is yet more evidence of the energy giant’s non-conventional ambitions.
Aramco was recently reported to have posted non-conventional jobs listings on LinkedIn, attracting hundreds of applicants from shale workers in the United States.
