What are your main duties as Specialist Services Group CEO?
My main task at Specialist Services is to drive the strategic direction of the group towards our Vision, and ensure that the correct resources, be those smart people, excellent facilities, world class operating systems and financial strength, are in place to support the design, development and delivery of our best in-class products and services.
You have a wide range of product and service lines – could you tell our readers about Specialist Services’ main areas of business?
Our key areas feature three product groups, namely modular buildings which safely house people and equipment offshore in the world’s most hazardous environments, our drilling, testing and production equipment, used by all the major well testing service companies and our EPC business for larger technical buildings housing items.
What are some of the main projects/contracts Specialist Services is working on in the Middle East?
We were awarded a large contract by Petrofac in August 2014 for the provision of eight local equipment rooms and four local control rooms for the Upper Zakum 750 Island Surface Facilities Project. Manufacturing is currently proceeding well and all buildings are planned to be installed on the Abu Dhabi ZADCO Upper Zakum Offshore Field located in the Arabian Gulf, 84 km from Abu Dhabi, by August 2016. Last December we were awarded another EPC project by Yokogawa for design, fabrication and supply of 11 field auxiliary rooms and four control rooms for the Rumaila compressor station in Iraq. The units will be progressively completed in the third quarter of 2015.
What are some of your main targets for 2015?
We are looking at some very interesting and exciting product developments that enable us to leverage our existing capabilities and client base. We are also working on expanding our offering to a broader range of clients through focussing on our core deliverables of designing and manufacturing a quality product, entirely fit for purpose, delivered on time, meeting the most exacting industry standards and competitively priced.
What else would you like to highlight?
Throughout the years we have come to recognise that our products and services are only as good as the people that design, manufacture and deliver them. Our people are absolutely key, and a huge part of our success as a business, and it is our people that put the ‘Special’ in Specialist Services.
