Drydocks awarded Johan Sverdrup platform contract

Firm will carry out fabrication of components on the project

Drydocks World has been awarded the contract from Kvaerner to carry out the fabrication of components on the Johan Sverdrup Riser Platform Jacket for end-user Statoil.

The platform will be located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Kvaerner won contract from Statoil in January and Drydocks World will carry out the fabrication of pile clusters and floatation tanks including surface protection for the Johan Sverdrup Riser platform jacket.

The pile clusters will form the base of the jacket where the structure is piled to the seabed, and the tanks will be used for launching and installation of the jackets on site.

“Drydocks World has delivered numerous world-first mega projects, demonstrating our capabilities and commitment to innovation,” said H.E. Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World.

“Drydocks World looks forward to working with Kvaerner, having previously completed two substructures for semi-submersible drilling rigs Aker Alpha and Aker Beta.”

Currently, Drydocks World is also fabricating a 2,000 ton jacket and wellhead platform for the Technip Rashid C Platform.
