Bapco signs deal with EMC for data storage systems

New system will allow company to archive and recover data, and create valuable backups

Bahrain Petroleum Company (Bapco) has signed a deal with IT- technologies expert EMC for the provision of data storage and backup systems.

Bapco will deploy two of EMC’s systems — Data Domain and Data Management, which will allow it to archive files, recover lost information, and create valuable backups.

This, the company said, will help it to “effectively manage future growth and to create enterprise-ready, agile and highly scalable data protection architecture”.

The new software has a tapeless infrastructure, which will save Bapco both time and money on maintenance and manual restore operations associated with verifying tape-based data backups.

The news comes as more and more companies in the Gulf and the wider Middle East region are replacing their outdated equipment with more advanced cloud-based technologies and embracing the technology revolution.
