ADNOC awards $152mn contracts to Arabtec

Contracts include construction of new facilities in Ruwais refinery and Shah gas field

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc) has awarded two contracts worth a total of $152mn to Target Engineering- a subsidiary of Dubai-listed construction company Arabtec.

One of the projects is for the expansion of a housing complex in Ruwais, which will include a new building to accommodate “bachelor employees”.

The second $58.5mn contract will see Target construct a new management building and a civil defence station on an island in the Shah gas field.

Both projects are expected to be completed in February next year.

Adnoc’s Shah gas project, operated by Al Hosn Gas, a joint venture with US company Occidental Petroleum, is expected to produce 1bn standard cubic feet of sour gas a day to be processed into natural gas liquids and petroleum condensates.

“The plant will be the largest facility of this kind and is designed to be self-supporting and includes housing, medical, recreation and a mosque to provide a high quality of life for permanent staff accommodation,” according to the Al Hosn Gas website.
