Megarme’s hard work on Upper Zakum field received recognition last night as the company received Oil Field Services Project of the Year award. The UAE company was chosen among a number of high-achieving national and international oil field service companies for the quality of its oil field services on the Upper Zakum Field, north west of Abu Dhabi Islands.
The Abu Dhabi-based service provider was praised for using its rope access technology and completing the project around 50% more quickly than other more conventional methods. Guests at the Oil and Gas Middle East award ceremony heard that the Upper Zakum project stood out from the rest of the nominated in this category with “a substantial amount of supporting documents, carefully outlining the project, its challenges and how it was successfully executed”. The nomination showed high levels of expertise utilising rope access technology. The project was particularly praised for its no lost time incidents, delivering on time and excellent health and safety culture.Â
William Harkin, chairman of Megarme, said:Â “What better award than this to get in the industry? We couldn’t be happier. Even just to be nominated, we were more than happy. Brilliant! Absolutely brilliant!”
It has been two successful two weeks for Megarme, who also received the health and safety award at Dubai Airport last week. “Safety is something we ingrain onto the people on the team. Safety safety safety! It’s the most important thing!”
“We don’t want an incident or an injury for anybody. It doesnt matter how much money we are making. If somebody gets hurt that takes it all away. Safety is absolutely at the forefront of our company. We are going to keep doing what we already have been doing and keep doing it right”, he added.Â
Harking was presented with the award by Dr Linda Freisler, director and general counsel at MEGlobal, who were category sponsors for this year’s event.
Harking also said they are currently working on “quite a few projects at the pipeline” but did not wish to disclose more details.
