Health and safety issues in the oil and gas industry will be the key topic of Middle East’s first BOHS Worker Health Protection Conference in Abu Dhabi today.
The main highlight on the second day of the conference is a presentation by Abu Dhabi oil company ADCO on the biological hazards workers in the industry face.
Saleh Katbeh, occupational health advisor at ADCO, said: “Legionella is one of the areas of concern for health in oil and gas operations in the GCC. Speaking at the BOHS Worker Health Protection Conference is the right arena to share with colleagues and occupational health professionals our findings and programmes in relation to this important topic.”
In the speaker line-up of the summit are: Carl Sall, head of Industrial Safety at the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation; Alexandra Duguay, head of Industrial Hygiene and Environment at Total Abu Al Bukhoosh and Dr. Omar El Nagieb, occupational medicine specialist at ADNOC.
The four-day summit, which started yesterday and will finish on 23rd October, is supported by Abu Dhabi’s Health Authority. The Middle East’s first BOHS Worker Health Protection Conference is jointly organised by BOHS, the Chartered Society for Worker Health Protection, and Epoc Messe Frankfurt. The Conference will also examine worker wellbeing issues, and outline the latest health and safety regulations at the workplace.Â
