BMT ARGOSS has announced the award of a number of metocean assessments for Tullow Oil Plc., which includes detailed synopsis of meteorological and oceanographic conditions in South America and West Africa. This is proposed to help support the company’s operations in offshore oil and gas exploration.
“Understanding the impact of the physical environment on an offshore structure is critical to safety and efficiency in all phases of the structure’s lifecycle. BMT’s work helps Tullow plan effectively and minimise the risks to personnel, the environment and the company”, said Martin Williams who is senior metocean advisor at BMT ARGOSS.
BMT is also working with Tullow Oil on developing an online metocean and weather forecasting gateway, which when fully operational will provide lead engineers and planners with quick and safe access to all Tullow’s metocean information via a single portal.
“Tullow have been engaging with BMT ARGOSS with regards to their metocean and regional reporting capabilities. We are currently evaluating available products and services primarily in support of the development of the BMT ARGOSS Metocean Portal – the launch of which is anticipated to have the potential to support Tullow’s offshore projects and activities”, said Colleen Abell, who is the senior environmental remote sensing & GIS specialist at Tullow Oil Plc.
BMT ARGOSS offers a range of services that are used, amongst others, for designing offshore structures, downtime analysis, operations planning and the execution of maritime operations. It does this using in-house resources and expertise.
