Tethys flows 2,400 bpd from Oman well

Swedish oil company strikes oil after 2km drilling

Swedish oil explorer Tethys has announced an oil strike at its B4EW3 well at Oman’s block 4 onshore Oman.

The well flowed test rates of 2,400 barrels a day of 30 degree API crude, after drilling to a depth of over 2 kilometres and laying a 400 metre horizontal section along the Khufai formation.

“After much diligent work another Khufai field with conventional oil has been found,” said Tethys managing director, Magnus Nordin.

“We are hopeful that these results will confirm that we are on the right way to find the key to understanding the complex oil patterns of the Saiwan area.”

The B4EW3 well has been connected to the Saiwan East oilfield production facilities and will undergo a long term production test.

Tethys holds a 30% interest in Block 4 along with operator CC Energy Development holding 50% and Mitsui E&P with the remaining 20%.
