Dana Gas confirms explosion at Khor Mor plant

One killed and four injured in LPG tanker accident in Kurdistan

Dana Gas has confirmed that a road tanker accident at its Khor Mor LPG Plant in Kurdistan Region of Iraq on Friday has resulted in one death and four injuries.

Two LPG road tankers, belonging to a local LPG trader, caused a fire during filling at the Khor Mor LPG loading facility, according to a Dana Gas statement.

The accompanying explosion resulted in four injuries and one fatality of a tanker driver, and caused extensive damage to the loading facility.

Immediate medical support was available to the injured and fire-fighting teams extinguished the fire within two hours, says Dana Gas.

As a precautionary measure, Dana Gas has temporarily shut down the plant while a full investigation is conducted and repairs are carried out. A partial production restarted yesterday Saturday from the Early Production Facility producing and supplying gas to the power stations.

The company’s shares, already suppressed by pessisim over the company’s ability to repay a $1 billion sukuk in October, stayed flat yesterday at AED 0.38 on Abu Dhabi’s stock exchange.
