Preparations are underway for a second round of exploration drilling in the Abu Sennan Concession in Egypt, according to the latest update from junior consortium partner Beach Energy.
Beach Energy states drilling is expected to commence this month.
The field is operated by Kuwait Energy, a private sector independent, which holds a 50% stake in the field. Dover Investments holds 28%, while Beach holds 22%.
The six-well first exploration round was broadly successful.
In March Kuwait Energy announced a new 400 barrels per day (bpd) discovery at the El Salmiya-1 exploration well in the Abu Sennan concession, the fourth since exploration activity began at the concession. Kuwait Energy has made 16 new discoveries throughout its Eygyptian operations since 2008.
In February the Al Jahraa-1 exploration well yielded an initial flow rate of 835 bpd.
Kuwait Energy recently secured block 9 in Iraq with a consortium including Dragon Oil.
