Dubai-based Momentum Engineering’s Turkmen subsidiary has contracted Malaysia’s Bumi Armada to lay 15km of assorted pipeline at a Momentum project in the Caspian Sea.

According to a statement by Bumi, the company’s Armada Marine Contractors Caspian won a 30-day contract to lay several pipelines off the Turkmen coast, due to start in early June with an optional 15-day extension.

“We are optimistic of growth in the region,” said Bumi CEO Hassam Basma, “Our Armada Installer with its newly-installed 825 tonne crane is one of only two derrick pipelay barges in the landlocked Caspian Sea.”

Bumi Armada is a Malaysia-based international offshore oilfield services provider, and currently boasts a $2.19 billion backlog.
