UAE oil and gas engineering service group Lamprell has confirmed its dominance of the regional jackup rig upgrade and refurbishment market, with orders totaling $62 million booked in the first quarter.

Projects include a contract with RDC Qatar for the refurbishment and upgrade of its jackup drilling rig Gilbert Rowe and several contracts with Noble Drilling International for upgrade works on the Noble Gus Androes, the Noble Charles Copeland, the Noble George Mcleod and the Noble Chuck Syring.

The work on these projects will be executed at Lamprell’s Sharjah and Hamriyah facilities.

Commenting on the new awards, Nigel McCue, Chief Executive Officer, Lamprell said: “We are delighted to announce these new contract awards which highlight the Group’s reputation for quality and delivery and our ongoing drive to maintain and enhance our position in the rig refurbishment segment. These awards further strengthen the relationships we have enjoyed with these major drilling operators over the years and we look forward to the successful completion of these projects throughout the course of this year.”
