Abu Dhabi’s Zakum Development Company (ZADCO) has awarded a contract to Al Jaber Energy Services, for early civil works at the offshore Uppper Zakum oil field.
Al Jaber has already received a letter of award and scope covers enabling works, civil works and other miscellaneous works at four (4) artificial islands under construction.
Duration of the project is 36 months. Five local and international companies including Al Jaber Energy Services competed for the contract.
Zadco is building four artificial islands off the coast of Abu Dhabi at depths ranging from 6 metres to 14 metres to house drilling platforms, oil production facilities and supporting infrastructure as part of its plans to increase production at the Upper Zakum field to 750,000 barrels a day by 2015.
Zadco is a joint venture of state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), US oil major ExxonMobil and Japan Oil Development Company.
