In the largest deployment of its kind in Baker Hughes’ history, the company has deployed its industry-leading remote operations digital technology across Aramco’s drilling operations, encompassing 200+ sites.
Using the WellLink solution, Baker Hughes has built on Aramco’s existing industry-leading data management infrastructure and digital capabilities. Through the company’s innovative solutions, like WellLink, Baker Hughes has helped Aramco to effectively manage its data, software development services, rig-site digital engineers; and personnel.
From remote monitoring personnel to field-based personnel to office-based personnel, the WellLink solution has helped Aramco engineers aptly monitor and manage sites in real-time, mitigate drilling hazards, and gain access to a well of current and historical data that allows for quick visualisation and benchmarking hence enabling proactive operations management with a direct line to the wellsite.
Baker Hughes teams conducted hundreds of onshore and offshore trips across 350,000 km to install rig-site edge devices and integrate data streaming, monitoring and visualisation capabilities into Aramco’s existing digital infrastructure. By connecting all drilling sites with an integrated solution, Aramco enhances its view of its drilling operations in real-time.
“This remote operations deployment, the largest in Baker Hughes’ history, is a strong example of how we are investing for growth with customers who are driving digital transformation at a rapid pace, such as Aramco,” Maria Claudia Borras, executive vice president of oilfield services at Baker Hughes, said.
To support the needs of more than 2,000 end users and 24/7 drilling operations, Baker Hughes and Aramco established a dedicated centre staffed by a multidisciplinary team of software engineers, data professionals and field service technicians. By using WellLink, the project supports Aramco’s ongoing efforts to further drive digital opportunities and initiatives and to enhance operating performance and reduce emissions.
