P&O Maritime Logistics was recognised with the Logistic Solution of the Year award at Seatrade Maritime Awards Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa 2020. Held on December 14, 2020, the virtual ceremony celebrated the work of individuals and organisations from the maritime industry who achieved great success despite the global pandemic.
P&O Maritime Logistics created an innovative ‘Offshore Logistics Platform’ to optimise cargo delivery for the OSV industry. The Platform harnesses the power of big data analytics to create optimised delivery schedules, ensuring the most fuel and time efficient journeys for cargo, and that extra capacity on vessels is not wasted.
This represents a significant departure from the traditional OSV industry business model, which typically operates a time charter service to customers. With the roll-out of the Offshore Logistics Platform, P&O Maritime Logistics have been able to provide an industry-first service in which customers gain access to decreased delivery times and only pay for the cargo they ship.
Martin Helweg, Chief Executive Officer, P&O Maritime Logistics said:
“Winning Seatrade’s Logistic Solution of the Year Award 2020 is a fantastic endorsement for the logistics platform we have built and the direction we want to lead the OSV industry in. The industry will not survive if it can not adapt and provide more personalised, efficient solutions for customers, and digitalisation will be the key to achieving this.
“At a time when the industry is reeling under the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, this award win has only motivated us to continue promoting the importance of digitalisation in our sector. The industry is constantly evolving and to meet the ever-changing demands of the market and our customers, we have continually devised pathbreaking solutions to tackle the challenges and keep the business going.”
Despite the disruption caused due to the global pandemic, P&O Maritime Logistics maintained an efficient and resilient supply chain by adopting technology-enabled solutions and embracing digitalisation. In addition to their award winning ‘Offshore Logistics Platform’, the company has introduced lubricant and fuel oil monitoring, and has trialled a new class survey regime. They are also developing a port information service that will provide data on a vessel’s efficiency and seeking ways to reduce the carbon footprint of all operations.
P&O Maritime Logistics is strategically positioned to provide a wide portfolio of services to its customers, be it within one segment such as offshore or port services, or an integrated logistics offering with a combination of services. Innovation, incomparability, and efficiency to capture more entities of the supply chain and reduced capital expenditure are at the core of our business model.
The company operates a large fleet comprising more than 200 vessels across its port services portfolio, including 53 tugboats. Their vessels are tailored to suit the region and port they are being used in, with varying propulsion systems and bollard pulls for different operations around the world. P&O Maritime Logistics has a presence in seven continents, providing port services in the Americas, Africa, Europe and the Middle East, across commercial ports and LNG terminals for a wide range of customers.
Now in its 17th year, Seatrade Maritime Awards Middle East, Indian Subcontinent & Africa 2020 is the largest and longest established awards programme in the region, providing its roll of honour with an unrivalled benchmark of achievement that speaks volumes beyond the regional market.
