ADNOC awards $78mn Dalma umbilicals contract to Aker Solutions

Hail, Ghasha and Dalma are fields within ADNOC’s sour gas offshore mega-project

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has awarded Aker Solutions a $78mn contract to supply umbilicals for the Dalma offshore gas project.

The scope includes four steel tube umbilicals totaling more than 100 kilometers. The umbilical system will provide power supply, communication services and chemical injection fluids. It will connect the subsea equipment to three new wellhead platforms and link the topside equipment located on the offshore control platform to equipment located onshore.

“This is the first subsea umbilical award by ADNOC in the UAE and the first subsea award for Aker Solutions in the Persian Gulf,” said Luis Araujo, chief executive officer of Aker Solutions. “We are very pleased with the opportunity to further develop our relationship with ADNOC and to demonstrate our umbilical capabilities in the region.”

Aker Solutions’ facility in Mobile, Alabama in the United States will perform the design, engineering and manufacturing of the umbilical system. Work will start up immediately and be finalised in the first quarter 2021, and the order will be booked in the third quarter 2019.

ADNOC awarded a $1.36bn contract to National Marine Dredging Company in February 2019 to build artificial islands for the Ghasha Concession, which includes the Hail, Ghasha, and Dalma fields.

In late 2018, Eni took a 25% share in the concession, with Wintershall taking 10% and OMV taking 5%.
