Top 5 oil and gas contracts in the Middle East: February 2023

In case you missed the announcements, here is a list of the top five contracts secured for oil and gas projects in the region

The second month of the year witnessed a strong momentum of project activity in the Middle East region. The highlight of the month was Luberef’s $148.55 million EPC contract to Egypt’s Petrojet for Yanbu growth II expansion project.

Oil & Gas Middle East lists – in no particular order or ranking – the major contracts secured for diverse projects in the sector for the month of January 2023.

Aramco’s refining unit awards $148 million EPC contract for Yanbu Growth II Expansion project

Saudi Aramco Base Oil Co (Luberef) awarded a $148.55 million engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Egypt’s Petrojet for Yanbu growth II expansion project.

The project will expand the Yanbu facility’s base oils (Group II and Group III) production capacity to 1.3 million Metric Tonnes (MT) per annum by 2025, the company said in a statement to the Saudi stock exchange.

Kuwait Oil Company awards $176 million maintenance contracts

Kuwait Oil Co (KOC) has awarded two local companies contracts to provide maintenance services for key oil facilities with a combined value of around $176.2 million, Zawya Projects reported, citing a report from Arabic language daily Alanba. 

KOC, which manages the OPEC producer’s upstream industry, awarded a 74.6 million maintenance service contract for its facilities in South and East Kuwait to Bader Almulla and Brothers Co.

KOC also awarded a maintenance  contract for its facilities in South Kuwait to HOT Engineering & Construction Co with a value of $101.6 million, the newspaper said. 

Crescent Petroleum signs three contracts to develop Iraqi oil and gas fields

Crescent Petroleum, the Middle East’s oldest privately-owned upstream oil and gas company, has signed three 20-year agreements with Iraq’s Ministry of Oil to appraise, develop, and produce oil and gas from two blocks in Diyala governorate and one in Basra governorate.

The agreements will deliver much needed natural gas to fuel nearby power plants and improve government services, creating thousands of new jobs in Diyala and Basra. The contracts follow Crescent Petroleum’s successful award in the Oil Ministry’s Fifth Bid Round.

Crescent Petroleum will develop the Gilabat-Qumar and Khashim Ahmer-Injana fields in Diyala Province, to initially produce 250 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of  natural gas. A third exploration block, the Khider Al-Mai block in Basra province, will be explored and developed to add further supplies of oil and gas.

Saipem secures $400 million contract offshore Ivory Coast

Saipem has announced today that it has been awarded by the joint venture of Eni Côte d’Ivoire Ltd and Petroci a drilling contract worth $400 million offshore the Ivory Coast. This value is to be considered gross of the leasing costs of the deep value driller vessel that will be used for the operations, Saipem said in a press release.

The contract includes the use of the seventh-generation drillship named Deep Value Driller, one of the most modern in the world, for which Saipem has entered into a charter agreement with the company Deep Value Driller.

TechnipFMC secures ‘significant’ contract from TotalEnergies in Angola

TechnipFMC has secured a â€˜significant’ contract with TotalEnergies EP Angola for the engineering, procurement, and supply of flowlines and connectors for the Girassol Life Extension project (GIRLIFEX) offshore Angola.

The flexible pipes are set to extend the life of the Girassol field by bypassing the rigid pipe bundles installed before production began in 2001, TechnipFMC said in a press release.
