Saudi Arabia’s chemical company SABIC has awarded a lucrative contract to Spanish utility Iberdrola for the development of a 100 MW captive solar plant for SABIC’s industrial complex in Spain.
The photovoltaic (PV) solar project will have an investment of $76 million.
The power plant will be located on land owned by SABIC in the town of La Aljorra, where Iberdrola will install more than 260,000 solar panels.
According to a statement, Iberdrola will supply clean power to SABIC’s polycarbonate facility in Spain for 25 years as per the power purchase agreement (PPA).
The solar plant will allow SABIC customers in markets including the automotive and construction sectors access to 100% renewable electricity produced polycarbonate solutions.
