European contractor Wood launches engineering office in Doha

In 2021, Wood secured $580 million worth of contracts in the Middle East

British multinational engineering and consulting business Wood announced earlier this week the opening of a new engineering office in Doha following a growth in demand for its engineering expertise in Qatar, where the company has operated for over 20 years.

Establishing a permanent base in Doha enables Wood to provide specialist engineering solutions to local clients and projects, supports the development of in-country engineering capability and builds on Wood’s long track record of delivering successful projects in Qatar.

Wood has been active in the Middle East for 85 years and currently employs more than 2,500 people in the region with offices in six countries. In 2021, Wood secured $580 million worth of contracts in the Middle East.

Wood was one of the top EPC contractors on Oil & Gas Middle East’s ‘Top 25 EPC contractors’ list.

Significant awards in 2021 include a multi-million dollar contract awarded by Saudi Aramco to deliver engineering and project management services for the Safaniyah and Manifa oilfields in Saudi Arabia and a detailed EPC contract management solutions for a long-term client in Iraq.
