DEWA completes 57% construction of the $5.2mn water filtration units in Hatta

DEWA noted that the project will be completed by the end of this year, and the units will be used to refine and utilise water from Hatta dam

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s construction of 3 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) Water Microfiltration Units in Hatta is 57% complete.

According to a statement from Hatta, the project will be completed by the end of this year. The units are fully automated and can provide sustainable and safe solutions with high efficiency, using the latest innovative global technologies and sustainable equipment with low carbon emissions.

The total cost of the project is $5.17mn (AED 19mn). DEWA noted that the units will refine and sterilise the water from the Hatta dam, only in case of emergencies. The units will be used in case of faults in water transmission and distribution networks from Dubai to Hatta, the utility provider added.

“The projects implemented by DEWA in Hatta are in line with the Comprehensive Development Plan for Hatta, which aims to consolidate the foundations of sustainable development for that area and provide the highest level of services for the citizens and visitors of Hatta. The plan also aims to establish development projects, while considering the environment and natural resources in this vital area,” Al Tayer added.
