Bahrain receives bids from contractors for Jasra substation

Bahrain‘s Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) has received proposals from six bidders for the 220kV feeder cable works of the new 400kV Jasra Grid Substation, according to reports.

The scope of the tender includes the design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, civil works, installation, jointing, and testing of various cable circuits.

The tender notification states that the project will be executed through an international limited tender.

The bidders and their proposed amounts are as follows:

TBEA Shandong Luneng Taishan Cable Company Limited:

  • Option 1: BHD 26,104,006.907
  • Option 2: BHD 26,681,457.330

Saudi Cable Company:

  • Option 1: BHD 31,548,430.232
  • Option 2: BHD 33,356,706.578

Saudi Modern Company For Metals, Cables and Plastic Industry Ltd (Riyadh Cables):

  • BHD 31,685,992.189

Mohammad Al Ojaimi:

  • BHD 33,124,594.209

Taihan Electric:

  • BHD 38,758,617.170

Iljin Electric:

  • BHD 76,830,772.739

The proposals were submitted as part of the EWA’s tender for the 220kV feeder cable works, which is a crucial component of the upcoming 400kV Jasra Grid Substation project.

The work also includes 220kV cable circuits with an estimated length of 33.5 km (including new circuits and diversions), each with a minimum design rating of 300 MVA and a cable size of 800 mm2 Cu. XLPE per phase.

66kV cable circuits with an estimated length of 7.1 km, each with a minimum design rating of 60 MVA and a cable size of 800 mm2 Al. XLPE per phase, are part also of the project.

The tender also includes the design, manufacturing, supply, transportation, civil works, installation, jointing, and testing of fiber optic cable and DTS (Distributed Temperature Sensing) system.
