Nabil Alalawi, CEO of Al Mansoori Specialized Engineering was honoured by a full-house crowd at the 2011 Oil & Gas Middle East Awards on December 12 in Dubai. The industry legend received a standing ovation at the Westin Hotel in Dubai when he took home the judges choice Lifetime Achievement award.
Alalawai is the CEO and co-founder of the region’s premier home-grown oilfield service provider. Establishing the company in 1977 he has spent the last 30 years leading its considerable expansion. From its humble roots in Abu Dhabi, the company has grown to enjoy a geographic footprint that extends from Scotland, through Europe to Uganda, Bangkok and even Thailand. His company currently employs over 2,000 employees.
The company has enjoyed year-on-year growth, and under his stewardship is targeting 25 per cent growth for 2012 on the back of increased industry confidence and a rise in activity, particularly in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
“This is a fantastic honour and really I am grateful to Oil & gas Middle East and all of the staff at Al Mansoori who have made this possible. Enabling talented individuals the freedom to excel is what has made Al Mansoori a success,” he said.
Alalawi paid tribute to key customers in his acceptance speech. “As an organization we have been really fortunate to have the ADNOC group of companies as a key client. We have been insulated from the real lows the industry has suffered because we have been engaged in five, seven and nine year contracts with the ADNOC group. Their patronage has enabled us to develop at the rate we have,” he said.
