MEOS Day Two saw the opening of the exhibition hall and the start of the conference in earnest, with sessions on unconventional gas, enhanced waterflood, low-cost drilling techniques and EOR simulation and modelling.
Oilfield service sector announcements from the exhibition floor include two announcements from industry giants Weatherford and Halliburton.
Weatherford’s new lab
International oilfield services company Weatherford is about to formally launch its new HQ in Abu Dhabi.
The laboratory will be Weatherford Laboratory’s international headquarters and has been custom-designed by the company. Research activity will cover everything from fluid analysis in reservoirs to unconventional recovery and geochemistry.
Halliburton’s new Landmark
Oilfield service giant Halliburton has widened its software solutions range with its Landmark solutions package.
The software connects with any third party data source – so can be implemented regardless of which oilfield services company an operator uses – and allows operators to take control and ownership over their reservoir monitoring data, allowing for historical analysis and side-by-side comparisons of indicators in real time.
The software helps operators push the information needed to make critical decisions to the experienced engineers, without the need to monitor different sets of data provided at different intervals, which can lead to missed discoveries, misdiagnoses or even accidents.
