ADB International Group (ADBI), through its investment in Subsea Oil Technologies (Subsea), has begun offering its patent-pending solutions to government, educational and private institutions for containing deepwater oil rig blowouts.

ADBI has recently acquired 50% of Subsea, a Nevada corporation whose mission is to design, test and produce efficient, quality operational, safety and emergency equipment for the undersea oil and gas industries.

“On September 2, 2010, the world was again reminded about the dangers and potential ecological risks involved with offshore oil and gas development as the Vermillion Block 380 Mariner Energy oil rig exploded and caught fire off the Louisiana coast in the Gulf of Mexico,” stated Matthew Schulman, director of ADBI.

He added that “The recent explosion on the Mariner Energy Oil Rig serves as a warning to industry and government agencies to be ready for multiple oil spill calamities at any time. Apparently, the Mariner Energy workers and their families were lucky, as there were no substantial injuries or loss of life. Furthermore, the oil spill that followed the explosion could have been much worse, as we witnessed during the massive 2010 BP/Deepwater Horizon BP oil spill.”

Five patent applications have been assigned to Subsea that disclose numerous procedures and apparatus configurations (referred to as “the BOPstopper”) for permanently containing deepwater oil rig blowouts, such as the 2010 BP/Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, ADBI said in a statement.

A “BOPstopper” is designed to substantially isolate a defective blowout preventer (BOP) stack that spews oil and/or gas from the ocean by completely circumventing and encasing the defective BOP.
