Corus has been awarded a pipeline order from Total E&P UK worth nearly $300 million.

The order is for the Laggan-Tormore offshore gas field development in the West Shetlands in the UK and will see over 150000 tonnes of pipeline, around 500km in length, being produced at Corus’ site in Hartlepool.

“Corus is delighted to have been awarded this prestigious pipeline order. The pipe will be manufactured at the company’s Hartlepool site through 2010 and into 2011, securing both existing and additional employment for the area,” Remco Blaauw, managing director of Corus Tubes.

“The order has been won against strong global competition based on our world leading pipe-making capability and our proven operational performance. We look forward to working with Total on this landmark project and we are committed to delivering a world-class pipeline solution,” he added.

The pipe to be supplied will be 18 inches and 30 inches in diameter and will meet the specified requirements of the harsh offshore environments.
