Oilfield Get-together enjoys huge attendance

Oil & Gas Middle East sponsors the Oilfield Get-together held in Dubai

Oil & Gas Middle East laid on the latest and biggest yet hot ticket for upstream professionals in Dubai at the bustling Oil Field Get together

With 25 years of experience serving the oil industry, Ruth’s Chris Steak House launched monthly Oil Field Get-togethers at its Middle East HQ in The Monarch Dubai – largely in the hope of continuing a tradition that has been long forgotten in this market.

The Oil Field Get-together held kicked up another notch last month, with a whole host of industry stalwarts battering down the doors at Ruth’s Chris Steak House to enjoy good great food and company, and a raft of networking opportunities.

The event, sponsored by Oil & Gas Middle East raised the bar for local industry networking events, with hungry diners barely fitting through the doors of the restaurant. Most of the region’s key upstream and offshore companies sent representatives, and many competitors found themselves waxing lyrical about market conditions in a convivial and relaxed setting.

After an initial welcoming address, guests tucked in to a fantastic three course meal, with plenty of business being talked over the tables. A prize draw followed, with a number of lucky attendees walking away with some fantastic prizes.

“The OFG has quickly grown to become a staple part of the upstream industry’s networking calendar. Essentially it’s a great afternoon and a brilliant way to catch up with old friends and colleagues in an informal setting,” said Jimmy Larsen, deputy managing director of co-hosts Momentum Engineering.

The Oil Field Get-together is held on the last Thursday of every month and sponsorship opportunities are available. With each event attendance has grown, and March’s event looks set to be a sell out.

For recent arrivals in the region the event was a great opportunity to make contacts, and discuss how regional business had settled after the shocks of the last two years. A casual survey on the Oil & Gas Middle East table revealed a renewed sense of optimism about the coming nine months. Over a quarter of the guests thought oil prices would be comfortably back above $100 a barrel come year end.

More than half thought the $80 – $100 bracket was a sensible guess, and only one pessimistic diner saw oil sub-$50 come year end. Let’s hope the herd were right!
