GE Oil and Gas is to supply five 130MW Grame-9 Gas Turbines in a modularised solution to meet the power generation needs of Barrow Island’s gas treatment and liquefaction facilities, on the Gorgon project.
The firm has previously been awarded a contract worth US$400m to supply LNG refrigeration and CO2 reinjection components for the Gorgon field.
“I am delighted that GE Oil & Gas has again been selected by Chevron, this time to meet Gorgon’ s substantial subsea equipment and power generation requirements with high performance, efficiency and reliability,” said Claudi Santiago, president and CEO of GE Oil and Gas.
“These further contract wins strengthen our partnership role in the project, confirming our technology leadership position which is built on a proven, diverse and integrated solutions portfolio,” he added.
The Gorgon project, located off the coast of Western Australia, is one of the world’s largest untapped natural gas fields and features one of the world’s largest ever carbon dioxid sequestration technology projects.
