The Prime Minister of Kurdistan has revealed that proposals are being “fine tuned” to resume oil exports from the region of Iraq.
Barham Saleh told reporters in Abu Dhabi that “every barrel of oil exports is needed for Iraq’s treasury”.
“We and the prime minister (of Iraq) have spoken and the technical teams will get together before too long in order to finalise a deal.
“We have submitted a practical proposal to the prime minister in Baghdad and he has found it workable and realistic and we will fine-tune it to make it acceptable and we will resume,” he added.
When asked when he hoped exports from the region would resume he said: “We hope very soon”.
Oil exports were halted in October last year, as there was no system in place for payments to producers.
