A senior official from the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has said that the energy giant expects gas production from its offshore fields to increase by 1 billion cubic feet per dap (cfpd) by 2013.
Reuters reported that Ismail al-Ramahi, manager of ADNOC’s gas processing division said that the first stage of bringing the gas onshore was due to be completed by the end of Q1 2010, with the second stage complete in 2013.
The gas will be processed onshore and mostly used to fuel the UAE’s ever-increasing domestic demand.
The UAE currently imports gas from neighbouring Qatar.Â
