Oilfield services giant Schlumberger has announced that it has opened a new US$25 million reservoir completions manufacturing centre in Saudi Arabia.
In a statement the company said that the new centre, located in the Dammam Industrial City, will specialise in the production of customized downhole reservoir completions equipment.
The centre will also be home to a team of design and manufacturing engineers collaborative environment and will allow Schlumberger and oil companies the opportunity to develop and manufacture completions solutions for applications across the range of reservoir types found in the KSA and Middle East.
“We are excited about the opening of a facility that will provide the equipment to optimize production in long horizontal wells and to maximize reservoir recovery using novel completion concepts,” Doug Pferdehirt, president of Schlumberger Reservoir Production group said.
Senior officials from Saudi Aramco attended the recent inauguration ceremony including Zuhair A. Al-Hussain, vice president of the Saudi Aramco Drilling and Workover Department.
“I congratulate Schlumberger on this investment which emphasises that you take your investment in technology at the local level here in Saudi Arabia very seriously, as well as your corporate social responsibility to develop local talent that is aligned with that of Saudi Aramco,” Al-Hussain said.
Schlumberger also said that the centre is the first of its kind in the KSA.
