Al-Shaheen back in business

US$10bn mega-project to issue tenders for the EPC work in October

Hot off the ArabianOilandGas.com press today is the news that the Al-Shaheen refinery project in Qatar is issuing tenders for the EPC contracts in October. And about time too.

Our intrepid reporter (and editor of the rather splendid Petrochemicals Middle East), Abdelghani Henni, interviewed a source close to the project.

News is that Qatar Petroleum has trimmed a nifty US$4 billion or so off the previous budget of $13 billion for the 250,000 bpd refinery.

Pre approved bidders for the project include Bechtel (US), GS Engineering & Construction Corp (South Korea), Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co (South Korea), JGC Corporation (Japan), SK Engineering & Construction (South Korea), Snamprogetti (Italy), Technip (France), Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (The Netherlands), CTCI Corp (Taiwan), Daelim Industrial Co (South Korea), Daewoo Engineering & Construction Co (South Korea), Foster Wheeler Limited (US) and Samsung Engineering Company Limited (South Korea).

If anyone has information on Al-Shaeen they’d like to share then please feel free to email or leave a comment at the bottom.
