In April’s edition of Oil and Gas Middle East, we explore the long tubular world of pipes and pipelines. From fresh market insights to startling facts and figures, this one is sure to be a piping hot belter.

“We have been working for two years on our new TechnoPark site [Dubai], which will be the company’s worldwide headquarter. It is a 2 million ft2 plot that will house the pipe cladding process, manufacturing of oil tool equipment, induction bending of pipes and mechanically clad line pipe. It will also be home to our new R&D centre and engineering training centre,” explains Yaseen Jaffer, CEO, Proclad Group.

Proclad Group specialises in manufacturing internally clad piping, as well as fittings, flanges, vessels and well-head components, commonly used in the production of sour oil and gas.

The opening of Proclad’s new TechnoPark centre would seem to come at a somewhat precarious time. However, Jaffer is resolute in his affirmation that the oil and gas industry in the Middle East is still in a very strong position and that pipe demand remains high.

“After the economic crisis hit, we were wondering whether projects would be delayed or stalled, but it appears that they are continuing regardless. And the simple fact is you have to use pipes and pipelines for oil, gas, and of course for water, all of which are crucial to everyday life,” he points out.
