Allen-Bradley VersaView 5000 Industrial Computers from Rockwell Automation

Many manufacturers struggle with unreliable human machine interface (HMI) applications that use obsolete operating systems. With the family of Allen-Bradley VersaView 5000 industrial computers and monitors from Rockwell Automation, manufacturers can modernise their standalone, or distributed HMI applications to support smart manufacturing.

Lexan CXT Polycarbonate Copolymer Resins from SABIC

SABIC offers a line of high-clarity, high-heat, injection-mouldable polycarbonate copolymer resins. Lexan CXT resins offer a balance of high-temperature resistance, high flow and excellent colour stability under extreme moulding conditions, together with a high refractive index. These resins can be used in optical applications in the electronics, consumer and industrial, and healthcare industries.

RS250 Oil-flooded Rotary Screw Air Compressors from Ingersoll Rand

Ingersoll Rand offers next-generation R-Series oil-flooded rotary screw air compressors, which provide an energy-efficient solution for customers with high capacity air requirements. The new RS200 to RS250kW models are available with the new, state-of-the-art single-stage air-end, or the two-stage air-end that increases airflow by up to 16%. The new fixed-speed models are 10% more efficient compared to legacy products.

Fortress NXT Fluid Catalytic Cracking Catalyst of BASF

BASF presents Fortress NXT, the next generation of the Fortress Fluid Catalytic Cracking (FCC) catalyst for heavy residuum (resid) oil feedstock applications for the refining market. Fortress NXT has been optimised to deliver superior metals passivation and activity maintenance, while keeping hydrogen and coke production low. For refineries, this creates the opportunity for profit maximisation.

Pulsar Model R86 Non-contact Radar Transmitter of Magnetrol

Magnetrol presents Pulsar Model R86, its first industrial, 26 GHz pulse burst non-contact radar transmitter. Based on a platform developed for the Eclipse Model 706 guided wave radar transmitter, this Pulsar transmitter is the product of over 13 years of Magnetrol radar design and application experience. Non-contact radar transmitters are used in a variety of industries, including oil and gas.

Scavinator Non-triazine H2S Scavenger of Clariant

Clariant presents an alternative to triazine H2S scavenger chemistry with substantial benefits for oil producers. Scavinator increases overall production with less downtime due to its best-in-class solids control and reduced potential for mineral scaling. Scavinator is a water soluble scavenger for removing sulphide species from both gases and liquids and used to control hydrogen sulphide.

TerminalManager Software from Emerson Automation Solutions

Emerson Automation Solutions offers TerminalManager software for managing all terminal operational activities, which helps operators streamline the loading processes, and achieve greater connectivity to customer needs.

ULTIMet Hydrotreating Catalyst of Honeywell UOP

Honeywell UOP presents a catalyst that can efficiently remove sulphur and nitrogen from lower-value diesel blending components, allowing refiners to meet Euro V standards. ULTIMet has more active sites for chemical reactions and can be used as a drop-in reload to ‘debottleneck’ a unit, resulting in increased plant capacity with no additional capital expense.

VK-11 Leap5 Catalyst from Haldor Topsoe

As emission standards for sulphur continue to tighten, sulphuric acid plant operators look for ways to stay compliant, without lowering production targets, venturing into costly revamps, or tail gas treatment with scrubbers. One solution is more active SO2 oxidation catalysts, and with the introduction of Haldor Topsoe’s new Leap5 catalyst, this option has become reality.

Biodiesel 5 from Emirates National Oil Company

In September 2017, ENOC has introduced the new ‘Biodiesel 5’ product to the UAE market. Biodiesel 5 is an alternative green fuel product commonly used for diesel engines that has proven to reduce carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions.

It is a clean fuel produced from vegetable oil, waste cooking oil and animal oil/fat. As biodiesel is derived from renewable resources, it is an opportunity to reduce the domestic consumption of fossil fuels and contribute towards the region’s environmental protection and sustainability efforts.

Biodiesel lowers emissions such as carbon monoxide, black smoke and unburnt hydrocarbons and can be pumped, stored and burned just like petroleum diesel fuel.

ENOC’s product launch is in line with the UAE Energy Plan leading up to 2050, which targets an energy mix that combines renewable, nuclear and clean energy sources to meet the country’s economic requirements and environmental goals.

Saif Humaid Al Falasi, group CEO, ENOC, said: “ENOC has continuously adopted sustainable measures by expanding its capabilities to reduce carbon emissions. As a national oil company, and in line with the UAE’s Energy Plan 2050, it is our responsibility to support, advance and positively impact the communities we operate in. By introducing Biodiesel 5 in the commercial and industrial segment, ENOC has pioneered yet another initiative amongst national oil companies.”

“This product will not only help our customers gain operational efficiencies and reduce the emission level, but also bring us a step closer in adapting to the market changes and ensuring a diversified fuel mix to support the UAE’s goals and ambitions,” added Al Falasi.

The product, which has been tested in the UAE, is mainly used by companies for their new and existing trucks and heavy construction equipment, without the need to upgrade the engines and fuel storage facility.

Recently, ENOC Group, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, launched a pilot project using Biodiesel 5 to fuel Dubai Municipality’s fleet of trucks at its Umm Ramool facility.

Commenting on this collaboration, Al Falasi said: “Our partnership with Dubai Municipality is testament to our ability to tailor our services to customers’ requirements while continuing to contribute to our nation’s progress.”

“We partnered with ENOC to receive Biodiesel 5 supply to the municipality’s truck fleet to enhance our operations and services. This move is in line with Dubai Municipality’s vision of building a happy and sustainable city, by implementing pioneering sustainable practices to achieve its strategic objectives of conserving the environment, and achieving the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy to produce 75% of Dubai’s total energy production from clean energy sources by 2050, reducing the city’s CO2 emissions,” stated Ahmed Abdul Kareem, assistant director general of Dubai Municipality for general support sector.

The introduction of biodiesel has been a pioneering move across many countries around the world, especially in Europe, where the product has been mandated to meet national greenhouse reduction targets.

Meanwhile, Emirates Gas (EMGAS), a subsidiary of ENOC continues to expand its CNG (compressed natural gas) network in Dubai by inaugurating the first CNG Daughter Station. Located at Emirates Transport premises in Al Qusais, the station has the capacity of 5,200 cubic metres of CNG, capable of fuelling approximately 400-500 light vehicles per day. The facility will provide a seamless supply of CNG to Emirates Transport vehicles, which will be transported from the Mother Station in Jebel Ali to the Daughter Station in Emirates Transport.

In addition, ENOC has also launched two mini CNG Daughter Stations at Al Ahli Driving Centre in Al Qouz and Emirates Driving Institute’s premises in Al Qusais. The Mini Daughter Stations have a storage capacity of 1,500 cubic metres, capable of fuelling up to 200 Natural Gas Vehicles per day.
