Business France, the national agency supporting the international development of the French economy, is to launch the first French pavilion at Oil and Gas West Asia (OGWA) 2018, an oil and gas sector event being held in Oman.
A range of French oil and gas companies will be represented in the pavilion extending technologies and business opportunities to the attendees. France is one of Europe’s leading exporters and the presence at OGWA is in order to seek partners for regional initiatives.
Major French players such as Total, which operates alongside numerous suppliers of equipment and services to the industry, will be one of the main exhibitors. Many other firms with a global footprint such as CGG and TechnipFMC will also be present.
Generating 27% of the country’s GDP, but contributing 70% of its budget revenue, the hydrocarbon sector remains a key driver of Oman’s economy, in spite of an active policy of diversification. Despite the recent oil crisis, the government has maintained its investment and production targets (which it intends to attain through the use of the latest oil production technologies), with the country exceeding the 1mn barrels per day threshold for the first time in its history in 2016.
Business France is planning to target potential upstream and downstream opportunities at the event with a number of specialist suppliers in attendance covering several segments.
