Why did you decide to participate in ADIPEC 2017?
As ADIPEC is known to be the most influential oil and gas conference to take place in the region, we make sure to take part in the event every year, as we see great value in participating in this event. This expansive platform is an opportunity to engage with customers, increase our reach, and showcase our engineering and technology expertise in oil and gas automation. Also, with our participation in the exhibition, local, regional, and global experts from Emerson will have the opportunity to engage with customers and introduce our newest offerings in automation technology.
What are the main products or services that you will display at ADIPEC?
We are aiming towards providing an intensive learning experience exploring the latest technology that suits the needs of the current oil and gas industry landscape. We are showcasing best practices in efficiency improvement, cost reduction, understanding of critical issues, the utilisation of innovative automation technologies, and how this knowledge can be applied within an organisation.
We will be focusing on the recently launched Plantweb Digital Ecosystem, which is a scalable portfolio of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies and applications that support process industries in achieving ‘operational certainty’. The Plantweb Digital Ecosystem includes Plantweb Pervasive Sensing, Plantweb Insight Analytics, the Plantweb Advisor Suite of software applications, the AMS Ares Platform, and the Microsoft-enabled, cloud-based Connected Services.
We are also showcasing our Valves & Controls offerings, our biggest acquisition to date. Becoming part of Emerson’s final control portfolio, Valves & Controls provides various valves, actuators, and controls technology such as control valves, pressure relief, butterfly, gate, globe, ball and check valves, as well as a global network of over 200 service centres.
What are your objectives for ADIPEC?
Emerson will showcase oil and gas automation opportunities critical to our customers’ operations, with a focus on how application of the IIoT can yield rapid ROI (return on investment) in real-world applications. We will present ways through which automation can be used to execute projects with great efficiency, reduce operational costs, and optimise the performance of facilities, from onshore and offshore fields, through processing facilities and pipelines, and to tank farms and terminals. We hope that our customers, by interacting with Emerson’s oil and gas experts, will learn new ways to develop automation strategies that better address their operational challenges.
How has business for your company been this year? What are your plans and goals for 2018?
In Q1 2017, our sales and profits exceeded expectations, with net sales estimated at US $3.2bn. This was followed by the Q2 2017 results, which reflected favourable order trends, driving revenues even further. In Q3 2017, net sales were reported at $4bn, an increase of 10%, along with underlying sales that were up by 4%. These favourable results include the recent acquisition of Pentair Valves and Controls, which suits Emerson’s existing portfolio of control valves, regulators, and actuators.
Emerson Automation Solutions continues to invest locally across the Middle East and Africa by collaborating with contractors, joint ventures, and affiliates, in developing projects for the region, with one of these being our investment of $25mn in our facility in the Dhahran Techno Valley in Saudi Arabia.
