It was a day of revelry as stakeholders from the upstream to the downstream segments of the regional oil and gas industry, converged in Dubai for the Oil & Gas Middle East and Refining & Petrochemicals Middle East Awards 2017.
The 8th edition of the Awards this year took place at the Four Seasons Dubai at Jumeirah Beach on Tuesday, September 12th, and saw senior industry professionals from across the length and breadth of the regional energy sector gather to witness the show.
Several shortlisted companies and individuals were in contest for each of the dozen Awards categories this year, and a variety of emotions were on display from the winners and highly commended nominations, as their names were being called out from the stage.
The editorial team had a chance to speak to the Award winners after they received their respective trophies on stage, all of whom were overwhelmed by the spectacular recognition their work and efforts had earned them and their companies.
Soon before the award presentation ceremony began, Indrajit Sen, the deputy editor of Oil & Gas Middle East magazine and the co-editor of arabianoilandgas.com took to the stage to address the audience.
Sen said, “I remember at the Awards last year, celebrating the regional oil and gas industry’s resilience against the hardships caused by below par oil prices, was sort of the untold theme of the event. This year however, considering the landmark changes we are witnessing almost every day, it is quite evident that I am addressing an audience representing a more matured industry that has embraced new realities.”
He further said: “From all of us at ITP Media Group, I’d like to convey our gratitude to everyone who has been a part of the 2017 Awards programme, our judges, our sponsors and all of you present here today. We have gathered here to celebrate the energy industry’s achievements and to me all of you are winners in your own right.”
