Just before midnight on September 1st, an oil and chemical tanker, the 17,000dwt Paros Wind collided with 38,000dwt bulker CS Jaden in the Black Sea around 8 miles from the entrance to the Bosporus Strait.

The bulker was bound from Istanbul to Port Said carrying wheat. It collided with the tanker which was on its way from Tuapse, Russia to an unknown destination.

A fast rescue boat and 10 tugboats were deployed by the Turkish coast guard. The vessels have both been towed to a location just off Kumkoy, north of Istanbul, where they remained anchored at the time of writing.

Both vessels are being assessed for damage, while no crew members were reported to be injured.

Paros Wind is owned and operated by Leader Shipmanagement in the Ukraine, while the CS Jaden is owned by Bahamas-based Campbell Shipping Company.
