A senior North Oil Company worker has been shot dead in Iraq, a little over a month after his predecessor suffered the same fate.
Chief engineer Saad Ali Hussain was killed as he was driving to his office in Kirkuk, police Brigadier Sarhat Qadir told Reuters.
Hussain had been in the job for just over a month, having replaced North Oil’s former chief of operations in June.
An NOC official, who requested anonymity, told Reuters that staff at the company feared the killings would continue.
“Someone is using bloody ways to change the structure of the company,” he said. “It’s like playing with fire and could result in dire consequences for the company’s operations.”
