Saudi Aramco’s vice president of engineering Samir Al-Tabib was appointed to a key government role on Friday, according to Arab News website.
Al-Tabib was named director of project management for the development of Saudi Arabia’s Defense Ministry as part of Prince Mohammed’s revamp efforts to imporve its performance, the new site said.
A number of Saudis have welcomed Al-Tabib’s appointment, saying “he is the right person for the right position,” it added.
Saudi Aramco is the state-owned oil company and the world’s biggest crude oil producer. Aramco owns, operates and develops all energy resources in the Kingdom, which has the world’s largest proven oil reserves estimated at more than 260bn barrels.
