Saudi Arabia’s GASCO names Al-Hajery as new CEO

Newly appointed CEO promises to soon solve Kingdom's gas shortages

Saudi Arabia’s National Gas and Industrialisation Co. (GASCO) said it appointed Dr. Eyas bin Samir Al-Hajery as chief executive officer, according to Al-Arabiya.net.

The news came as GASCO promised to solve the Kingdom’s gas crisis after days of shortages pushed prices to rise from 15 riyals to 100 riyals on the black market.

The company’s new chief Al-Hajery told Al Arabiya television that GASCO expects to meet gas demand in a few days.

He also said that state oil giant Saudi Aramco has halted scheduled maintenance work at a refinery to help meet demand.

“Yesterday there was an increase in production which was higher than average, if this continues and I hope production will continue or rise in the coming few days to meet the shortage,” he said.

Al-Hajery’s new appointment came after the company ended the tenure of acting managing director Salman bin Mohammed Al-Habashi.

Before joining GASCO Al-Hajery acted as chief business support officer at Etihad Etisalat Company and general manager of its subsidiary Bayanat Al Oula for Netowrk Services.
